Taos, New Mexico, March 25, 2025. TAOS ABSTRACT ARTIST COLLECTIVE (TAAC) will hold its Spring Exhibition, ”Honoring Our Intersecting Identities,” from April 25th – May 3rd, 2025, at the Stables Gallery at the Taos Center for the Arts (133 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos, NM, 87571). The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 25th from 4-8pm MDT and the exhibition will close with a reception on Saturday, May 3rd from 4-6pm MDT. The Spring Exhibition features work by 74 abstract artists working across diverse media and disciplines. Gallery hours will be held throughout the week. The event and exhibition are free, accessible, and open to the public.
Regular gallery hours will be held 4/26-5/3 until 6pm daily. TAAC Spring Exhibition docents will be available to gallery visitors to speak about the organization and exhibiting artists. Full details at taosabstractartistcollective.org. As part of exhibition programming, on Sunday, April 27th at 4pm, TAAC and the Taos Center for the Arts will offer a special screening of the film, Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light, followed by a post-screening talk with TAAC and the filmmakers. The documentary film was released in 2024 and is directed by Paul Wagner and stars Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes. Tickets are available for purchase on the TCA website.
The Spring 2025 Exhibition features artists new to the organization, as well as TAAC alumni. Albuquerque-based artist, and TAAC alumni Marianne Hall shares, “being involved with TAAC’s exhibits has brought unexpected rewards, including meaningful friendships and unparalleled support from their vibrant community.” Santa Fe-based artist, Susan Faust shares, “As an abstract artist living in Northern New Mexico I am delighted to have been a member of TAAC since the Inaugural Exhibition in 2022. The depth and breadth of the work in these shows is astonishing. Being a member has not only inspired me artistically but given me a sense of community so important to the creative spirit. As Taos has been a hub of collective creative energy for centuries - so it is now for abstract artists and I’m very excited to be a participant in the TAAC spring show.”
As TAAC concludes its 3rd annual exhibition season, the Spring show marks the group’s fifth community offering. By Spring of 2025, TAAC will have exhibited nearly 400 abstract works and has enjoyed exciting exhibition partnerships with the Couse-Sharp Historic Site, the Harwood Museum, and the Millicent Rogers Museum. With every community offering, TAAC continues to expand dialogues and awareness surrounding the stories and communities that drive abstract art in New Mexico. According to TAAC’s Treasurer, sculptor Brian Barreto, "I'm always impressed, not only by the high caliber of work but the overall continuity and surprising conversations that arise between pairings of works. The Spring and Fall TAAC shows are timely surveys of what's beating creatively in Northern New Mexico. There's a good chance you'll meet the artist at the opening as well!”
As TAAC's exhibition theme suggests, TAAC will continue to invest creative energy into projects and relationships that align with its mission to center artists and amplify accessibility, diversity, and inclusion in abstract art and practice across the region. TAAC promotes self-identifying abstract artists living and working in Northern New Mexico, honoring intersecting identities across race, national origin, ethnicity, culture, size, gender identity and expression, disability, sexuality, age, socioeconomic status, neurotype, religion and/or spiritual practice. All abstract artists are welcome in their pursuit of provocative expression.
Conceptualized in 2020, the Taos Abstract Artist Collective offers curated and juried exhibitions, artist talks, studio visits, and collaborative community concepts. Learn more at www.taosabstractartistcollective.org
